Sinaia Monastery
At the end of the winter, I rediscover the beautifull monastery silently watching seasons changing over the old town.

The monastery was built in XVII century by Mihail Cantacuzino after a holy journey at the Sinai Mountain and praying in Saint Ecaterina monastery. It was the first construction in the area. The Sinaia town was founded around this monastery.

This is the first religious museum of our country, continuously open to public since 1895.

This is the original monastery building that was constructed by the Cantacuzino family. Unfortunately is still in reconstruction and closed to the public.

There is a beautifully crafted masive wood door. Over the door is the Cantacuzino family’s emblem – the bicephalous eagle.
